This Weeks Top 10

This week we decided to do a top 10 on a band that we have not stopped listening to ever since we saw them live!! That band is littleSUNDAY!! All new fans, old fans tell us what you think of our top 10!!

Where The Rain Ricochets…

…The title off AJ Edwards recent EP release but lets backtrack before we dive right into the album. Hailing from Boston, AJ had realized that he had a great passion for writing song lyrics. This transformed into the creation of numerous originals that he would use to put forth an album titled, ‘Start Over The Moon’ in 2008. After touring this album for a few years AJ had run into a pivotal moment in his career. This was the meeting of Aaron Johnson, the multi-platinum producer behind The Fray’s “How To Save A Life”. This opened up numerous doors for AJ, and probably the greatest part of the story is Aaron’s willingness to look at everything AJ had done prior and recognize the potential this amazing artist had in him.

Fast forward now to the May release of the “Where the Rain Ricochets” EP, lets just start by saying brilliant! This EP is AJ’s first radio-ready release and from start to finish it is incredible. The audio is mastered and edited beautifully and AJ’s vocals throughout are simply stunning. Our personal favorite off of this EP is Fight or Flight which has been playing on repeat ever since we heard it!! The best thing I can suggest at this point is visit AJ’s website and read up on his past and stay tuned with his future.

Now Playing: Above The Flood

Above The Flood or ATF is a band from Gloversville, NY. These boys play an edgier, heavy form of rock with inspirations such as Chevelle and Seether just to name a few. If you live in the surrounding area of this band make sure you get out to their show next Friday at Savannahs in downtown Albany. ATF is one of the three bands in the finals and needs your votes and support to ensure a victory to play along side Shinedown, Godsmack, Papa Roach, Staind, Adelitas Way and many more on September 1st. For those who just want to check out a great band, head over to their Facebook page and check out their song ‘Get By’!!

Duffy’s Tavern

Last night I was in attendance to see Ravyn Red, littleSUNDAY and Highway Lights. The Venue was Duffy’s Tavern which is where I’ll begin this review. This intimate bar features an area with a stage which at max capacity could probably jam around 100 people or so into there, while the extra would spill out into the bar area a few steps below. The actual bar itself had a very grungy, rock feel to it as the lighting was dim, there were random holes in the wall and somewhat messy everywhere. However it all played into the genre of the bands rather nicely.

First off was Ravyn Red. Unfortunately there were not to many people on hand for the start of their set. However that was the missing audiences loss as this band rocked from start to finish!! Playing a mix of original songs and covers Ravyn Red kept you thoroughly entertained throughout. Their original song ‘Smell The Roses’ was extremely well done and was one of their best original songs in our opinion. What really blew us away were Melissa’s stunning vocals on the bands covers of ‘Titanium’ by David Guetta Ft. Sia and ‘Bad Romance’ by Lady Gaga. Her vocal range on ‘Bad Romance’ was extremely impressive and the bands overall take on the song made it a fun experience for the audience. Overall they kicked off the show with a bang and did not disappoint, there next show is August 23rd @ The Comfort Zone and I suggest you be in attendance if you live in the GTA!!! Check out their original song ‘Hypocrite’ on their Facebook page :

Next up was littleSUNDAY. This band with their large following attracted what seemed like the biggest crowd of the three bands. Their veteran stage presence allowed the audience to really interact with their set and join in, whether it was singing the lyrics or clapping to the beat, the crowd was rocking. littleSUNDAYS set was extremely driving as they smashed out song after song, as if they could go all night. All around the band did an amazing job!! Our favorite song from their set was ‘Wait For Tomorrow’, to check it out head to their ReverbNation page and have a listen!!

The lead singer Rick said in the show that, “the band has been hiding in their bedroom”. Well myself as well as the crowd was certainly happy that they decided to come out because they put on a great show and I for one am looking forward to seeing them in the near future!!

And last but not least to close out the night was Highway Lights. When these boys started playing the crowd almost instantaneously rose to their feet and started partying. Opening with their two hit songs ‘Disappear’ and ‘Run With Me’ the crowd was pumped and the energy was nothing short of electric. Lead singer Josh let the crowd know that he had, “A demon in his throat”, but that didn’t slow him down. I give him props for staying up their and belting out song after song!! When the band was notified that the fourth and final band was a no show, they decided to continue playing which was a real treat for the crowd!! Highway Lights brought amazing energy to the stage and to its audience, thus making it a fun set from start to finish!! They have a few shows in the upcoming weeks, so if you have the chance be sure to get out and get rocking!! Check out and like their Facebook page to stay in touch with everything Highway Lights!!

Till next time,

March On

Adam Jensen

The title says so little but so much. Everyone needs to familiarize themselves with this name because it won’t be long before you start seeing it up in lights somewhere!! Adam has one of the best voices we have heard here at the blog. The song “Lost Without You” is hands down our favorite from him, the lyrics and vocals are simply amazing!! As mentioned earlier you definitely need to check this band out!! Down below is the link for Lost Without You on YouTube. Make sure you follow them on Twitter and like their Facebook page!

Country Roots

Having spent a major part of my life listening to country music it was a great joy for me to stumble upon the name Jade Turner through club knowledge on twitter. From Manitoba, Jade’s voice is one that is very soothing and goes well with the country twang in her music. For those country fans like myself she is someone you definitely want to look into. Be sure to check out Jade’s Myspace page and to download her EP from Itunes!!

Inner Child is one of the new singles from the band Barely Blind. From Beaumont Texas these boys have just put out their third album called ‘Wilder Child Of A Thousand Suns’ which is nothing short of brilliant.
