Still Waters, the newest EP from The Como Brothers Band, does not disappoint!! This sophomore album was anything you could have asked for and then some!! From awesome lyrics to catchy riffs, great vocals to awesome instrumentation, the boys brought it! Historically many bands sophomore release is one that does not quite live up to there original album! However The Como Brothers took their time and put out an amazing EP! From the opening lyrics and riff of ‘Parachute’ I was hooked, with a Foo Fighters feel ‘Parachute’ really sets the tempo for this album! The next track ‘Bad Karma’ takes on this Sublime sounding genre and well to put it simply gets your body rocking! The rest well you’ll just have to pick up a copy and listen for yourself!
A quiet start for us with just one band on our radar for the opening day, however we made sure we picked a show that rocked!! The C’mons definitely delivered on that front. The C’mons are a Toronto based band who have come together over the years in what seems to be like carefully placed puzzle pieces. Immediate impressions of the band were intriguing, 5 piece band with a female lead singer and a female violinist! We had never heard this bands music prior so the punk rock that emerged took us by surprise but had us thoroughly entertained throughout their 9 song set list. In general we thought lead singer, Steph Bosch did an awesome job on vocals throughout the night. Instrumentally, the band had no obvious flaws however could do more to make the live experience a bit better.
So lets break it down for you:
The Good:
- Steph’s vocals were awesome all night!! Definitely a highlight
- We were big fans of the lyrics, very interesting and catchy!!
- Their new song (no name was given) was awesome, it had a very early years of No Doubt feel which was cool!
The Bad:
- We’re suckers for stage presence and interaction with the crowd. Not that it was ‘bad’ but it was lacking and we wish there would have been some more.
The Ugly:
- Nothing!!!!
All in all The C’mons kicked off the week in a great way for us!! Their show was high energy and driving. Whether you’re a toe tapper, head bobber or body shaker, The C’mons had a lot of their audience moving! We definitely recommend you get out to see this band because it will be a great time!
The list can go on an on!!! Which one are you guys excited for?! All I can say for sure is that if you are as much of a music lover as I am then this summer will be one to remember!!
We provided you guys with some must see shows for the first few days of the festival, no we’re gonna give you some top choices for the weekend portion!!
The Richmond Hill band are currently sitting as the 10th band in Canada on the alternatives chart and the 3rd ranked band in Ontario!! And where can you catch this amazing band live?! Right at our very own MarchOn Charity Festival!! The guys in You Vs Me have put together an amazing product and the results don’t lie!! With their latest EP “The Book Of …” enjoying continued success, You Vs Me continues to grow its massive fan base! We are extremely excited to have them at our event and can’t wait to meet their fans at our show!!
This one was a very tough decision for us as this song and our #1 we have listened to non stop for a very long time!! If I could have made a tie I would have but by a slim margin, coming in at #2 are The Como Brothers!
